Sketchup Tutorial on spiral stair

I found this video is very useful for constructing a stair, not only the spiral one because the method of dividing a straight line into several equal segments enables an accurate height of each step for the stair which I found confusing before.

Developed model with stairs

Further development of the draft model 2:

After the construction of stairs, I have added some components (shadow men) to compare the scale of my model.

These stiars which are used to link between Goodwin's studio and the skywalk where Goodwin can do some sketchings and find some inspiration for his design.

Sketchup Models

Draft model 1:
The two words are 'lash' and 'ignorant'.
This is my first draft model using Google sketchup. However, this model will not be developed since this building is a little bit boring because it is constructed simply by 'push and pull' method. As a result, it looks like a 'block'. Also, the space of Goodwin's studio cannot be fully utilized with insufficient height and most important, stair link between Goodwin's studio and the gallery will hardly be made with such an insufficient space.
Section with stair:
They are just simple stairs for practicing purpose.

Draft Model 2:
The two words are 'scrub' and 'explore'.
This is my second sketchup model which I have learnt from previous failure. This building provides enough space for the construction of stairs, and also both clients are able to work and live here with studios and living rooms. A circular shape covered by glass on the ground will allow sunlight entering to the underground level to inspire Piccinini's design so that he can 'explore' outside.

Week3 Stair

This is a practice sketching of different sections of a stair.

The stairs I will use in the develop model

This is U-shaped stair that I will used to link with the gallery and Piccinini's studio, meanwhile, a "n"-shaped stair (reverse of U-shaped stair) will be constructed from Piccinini's private place to his studio. This special shape I will be using can show the concept of 'explore' from 'the shadows of each step.
A spiral stair will be built from the gallery up to Goodwin's studio. It will have transparent steps which can see through the stairs, hence the material I will be using on each step is glass. Since Goodwin's artwork is large, thus, this spiral stair won't have any rails which may hinder his transportation of artwork to the gallery.

Week 1

This is a corner of my whole scene which is made according to some old photos to demonstrate a past village view in New Territories, Hong Kong in 1980s. Although there aren't all hand-made components, with different combination of those materials, every single outcomes can show the special unique sides of a quiet and spacious village.

This is a famous pre-war architecture in Johnston Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong which was built in the beginning of the 19th century. The building is mixed with traditional Chinese and western building features for instant the Chinese balcony was built above pedestrians' road to increase the actual space and bring the natural sunshine to indoor. Moreover, the building is adorned with french-style window frames. With the rapid development of its surrounding area, this architecture is more outstanding and hence shows a great contrast of the past and modern building.

This photo was taken a few years ago when I was at home on my own. The sunset was awesome, however; I felt like being trapped in a block since there was nobody at that moment. That's why I had chosen a decoration to represent myself looking out of the window and enjoying the gorgeous scene so as to present the feeling of loneliness.

PICCININI: EVOLUTION, EXPLORE, IGNORANT

SWALLOW: MATERIALISM, DEVIL, LONELY

GOODWIN: LASH, SCRUB, UNDEFEATED
